Tool/Adam Jones tone
« on: November 16, 2017, 01:40:59 PM »
Hey all,

I'm trying to attain an Adam Jones-ish(Tool) tone.
I've used the Duncan sh-4 that some people think he uses, but it sounds sort of 'weak' to me.
I prefer his later tone like in Rosetta Stoned, for example(as opposed to Undertow).

I'm open to trying some DiMarzio pickups, if anyone has any suggestions, throw them at me!

I play with a Gibson Les Paul Custom, and a 100 watt PRS Archon(Pretty Diesel VH4-esque), and a Mesa 4x12 with two v30's and 2 CL80's.

Thanks!

Your rig is fairly close to what he has going on.

Maybe consider the Dominion.

Is there a certain aspect to the sound you’re wanting?  More complexity?  More low end punch?  More clarity?  More compression?
