Tone Zone vs Illuminator
« on: February 05, 2017, 02:07:42 PM »
Getting ready to put a set of DiMarzios in my 2016 Charvel So Cal. I'm trying to decide if I should go with the old standard Tone Zone/Air Norton or the Illuminator set. If anyone would care to chime in with the difference between these two sets, I'd be great full. Thanks!

Both are great pickup sets. The TZ/AN set is a very versatile setup and is a very good set to go with if you want to do the shred thing and want a smooth lead tone. The Illuminator I find is better if you want something with more attack and presence, the rhythm tone from the Illuminator is also crunchier with less top end fuzz. Although I do personally prefer the TZ over the Illuminator bridge when working with a singer and the stuff I'm doing is just there to fill the background void.
