AT-1 bridge and ....?
« on: January 16, 2017, 07:06:02 AM »
Which humbucker works well in the neck position with the Andy Timmons AT-1 bridge? PAF Pro, Air Norton? My guitar is an Ibanez RG550 with maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and basswood body.

Any suggestions?  :)

Thank you guys!

The PAF Pro will work fine, as will for example a 36th Anniversary PAF, FRED, Air Classic, Humbucker from Hell, Bluesbucker.....lots of choices. The Air Norton might work, I'm just allergic to that pickup; way too muddy and dark for me.

jazz's selection is good.

I can only speak for the Bluesbucker in that context as it is the only of the pickups listed that I have ever paired with the AT-1 but that is a combination I like very much. Very good overall output and tonal balance.

Cheers Stephan

I've been looking into this, the AT 1 for the bridge of my strat. The more demos I listen to of it the more I like it. Would this pair well with a Heavy Blues 2 in the neck at all or would the AT 1 be too hot and drown it out?

I think you should do fine with the AT-1 and Heavy blues 2 in the neck. Andy Timmons uses Cruiser bridge (that are a bit lower in output than the Heavy blues 2)in the neck and middle position and it seems to work for him.
Love my AT-1!

I love the AT-1 with the cruiser in the neck. Personally am tempted to try it with the bluesbucker myself as I believe it would make a fantastic combo.

I have the AT-1 in the bridge and a Bluesbucker in the neck on my Kiesel 24 fret and it’s a perfekt match!

My vote goes to the bluesbucker.
