Pickup to pair with a PAF Master Bridge
« on: June 06, 2016, 02:49:53 PM »
Hello! I'm looking for a pickup to go with my PAF Master Bridge pickup, as stated above. I would like for this one to be warmer and fuller, in a way that complements the tone of the Master in the middle position. I would prefer to stay Dimarzio, but I am open to other companies as well. The guitar is an ESP LTD EC, which I presently have drop tuned to drop A (that was fun x) ).

PAF Pro

Or, if by "compliment" you mean similar, go with a standard PAF

Wouldn't the PAF Master neck be warmer and fuller than the bridge and compliment it in the middle position? If not, I would go with the 36th neck. The PAF Pro might overpower the PAF Master bridge.

I have no experience with the PAF type pickups from DiMarzio (other than having played older PAFs from them) but with such a low tuning I would definitely go as low output and as bright as reasonable.

Any particular reason why not PAF Master neck?

What I like as neck pickup is the Bluesbucker but that is not quite a PAF, and I am not sure how well it handles such low tunings.

Cheers Stephan
