Transition set: covers or no covers?
« on: March 09, 2016, 02:29:03 PM »
Looking at getting a set of Transitions for my Ibanez AR700 (Artist shape, thinner body with maple cap that makes up almost 1/2 of the body). It can stand something a little bass-heavy since the body is so thin and can be bright with the maple top.

Is there much of a difference with the Transitions open vs having covers?

IME, hardly noticeable. With covers, the highs are ever so slightly rolled off, and the output drops ever so slightly as well

I have honestly never noticed any significant change in treble with covers - if any at all.

Decide based on looks if anything.

It's all cosmetics. I have a pair with covers, doesn't seem to affect the sound in anyway.
