Dimarzio Kiko Louriero
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:07:11 PM »
Anyone know the specs on his signature model for his Ibanez?  His tone on the new Megadeth Album - Dystopia is pretty killer.

He has used Air Classics, Breeds, and Drop Sonics in the past with solo and Angra work.

Thanks!

Reading some interview with him it's PAF Pro with more juice under the hood.  By tone samples of megadeth rehearsing I would say the output is pretty close to a JB *only using that since it's a pickup I currently own).

It's not a breed but it's not a PAF Pro - somewhere in between

I emailed DiMarzio about this. Here's the answer:

"They aren’t based on any of our standard models, but the Gravity Storm neck model and Dominion bridge model are the closest available humbuckers. The Red Velvet is the closest single-coil."

Well, that might be whats going in my JP6 then!

Dominion & Gravity storm neck

Possibly just a Dominion set then.

Torn between that route and going stock with the Crunch Lab Liquifire.  OR possibly the transition set to cover more ground.

I got the JP6 used and the owner had put some very low output PAF types in there........

I like the Dominion bridge.

Another one that has more going on than you'd expect.

I'm really thinking I'm down to a dominion/crunch lab bridge and the matching neck

The CL is going to be a little smoother (maybe think of tight or compressed, if that's the word). Good for those fluid legato runs, for example.

The Dominion is a little raunchier, IMO.

I think the Illuminator set could fall in between, obviously being just a little more like the CL/LF.
