Area 61 neck and middle with AT-1
« on: November 20, 2018, 06:31:05 PM »
Happy Thanksgiving!!  I was wondering about this set up with a pair of 61's neck and middle with an AT-1 bridge, 250k pots in a parts caster.  Anyone tried this?
My first aftermarket pickup was a Super Distortion back in the 70's.  I strayed and tried Rio Grandes, Duncans, and EMGs only to come back to Dimarzio.  Funny were life takes you.

I've tried them all, but not together. I was not crazy about the AT-1, but a lot of people like it. If you like the Texas-hot sort of strat tone you should like the 61's. I have the 61 in the middle position with a Fred Bridge and a PAF Joe Neck.

I also tried them all but also not in the same guitar. The Area 61 works well with 250k pots. The AT-1 is designed to go with 500k pots so the natural single coil companions would be Injector necks, which also work well with 500k pots. I guess the acid test is whether the AT-1 would work in your particular guitar with 250k pots - if so, then the combination with the Area 61s should work. Personally I would use a weaker humbucker with them.

Cheers Stephan
