24" scale Drop C pickup advice
« on: October 24, 2017, 11:04:57 PM »
So I have an old Squire Super Sonic (basically a left handed jaguar with dual humbuckers strung right handed). It's a 24" scale and I have it set up in Drop C with a semi custom set of 11-58 strings. The guitar actually intonates well surprisingly.

I really like the way the guitar plays but the pickups are terrible. Some kind of generic ceramic with too much low and high treble, sounds muddy at times. it also only has 2 volume pots and a 3 way switch no tone controls.

My style is high gain but more 80's-ish. I like a lot of mid in my amp eq typically. I like the snarl it gives yout from power chords but I also have a kind of progressive style that uses a lot of complex chord voicings.

The three combos I am considering are the PAF Pro or FRED bridge with PAF Joe neck, Evolution set and the Titan set.

If you have any other suggestions those are welcome too. Thanks

Of the combos you mentioned, I’d start with the Titan

Maybe also take a look at the D Activator

I would go for the Humbucker from Hell neck instead of the PAF Joe in the neck. The Fred or PAF Pro would probably work well in the bridge.
