Need recommendations for Dimarzio pickups (single pickup for neck, humbucker for bridge), for a guitar with the following configuration:

Alder body with walnut top (body is chambered)
Maple neck and fingerboard
Locking trem

I play, hard rock, 80's hair metal, fusion/progressive music.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

What type of tone are you going for? What do you like? Help us out a bit here.

Looking for good clean tones from the neck pickup, but also the abilty to get great full tones when soloing. For the bridge humbucker, I'm looking for power, clarity (good string definition), with good mids, but highs that are not ear piercing.

Breed bridge with cruiser neck, or one of the Area single coils maybe.

What do you have in it now, and what do you not like about it?

It is a new build, so there are no pickups in it right now. I
It is also my first guitar with that particular wood combo, so I'm a little lost as to what pickups should I put in the guitar to get the tones that I'm after.

The loudness of these two pickups will be very different. I have a guitar with a Cruiser bridge in the neck and a Chopper T in the bridge. The Cruiser almost kisses the strings whereas I backed off the Chopper T quite a bit and the Cruiser still cannot keep up. I would go for something slightly hotter in the bridge neck, e.g. Chopper or Satch Track.

Cheers Stephan
