Transition Bridge Mod...
« on: December 19, 2019, 03:04:54 PM »
It's that time again folks!  I picked up the Transition bridge model just before I finished building my guitar.  I tried it and, obviously, wasn't totally satisfied with it.  Overall I really dug the note separation and open quality it had combined with a healthy heap of aggression, but the high-highs were a bit shrill and the lows were a bit obnoxious as well (my guitar has a big bottom as it is, so this didn't help).  After noodling around with many other pickups (some of those adventures I've detailed on this forum) I got the idea to drop the large ceramic stock magnet and put in a regular thin one.  No surprises: tightened lows, smoother highs and a slight drop in power but no real change in the voicing and no loss of clarity.   :madness:

Thanks for the info! I'll have to try that with one of the pickups I have.

Where did you get the the magnet from?

I get most of mine from addictionfx (ships the quickest in my experience), but there are many suppliers who sell them.
