Hi everyone

I am replacing the bridge humbucker in my '96 Tom Anderson Drop-Top. I have a Super Dist, that I have wired as the TA p/u was wired - real easy, r > r, bl > bl, etc.

The guitar is plugged into my hi-gain Marshall. When I lightly run a screwdriver over the poles of the TA p/u, I hear a that good 'ol scratchy noise... the noise sounds the same on poles in both bobbins.

Not so with the SDist; one bobbin sounds like the TA, and the other has some, but not nearly as much.

Does anyone know if this is normal? Would someone mind checking? My soldering is not exactly world-class, so it's possible there is something awry there.

The color codes for the Anderson and Dimarzio pickups are probably different. I know for Dimarzio, you want bare and green to ground, white and black together, and red is hot (for standard series operation). If you have autosplits on your switch, you'd have to figure out what the Anderson color scheme is to translate it.

Aha! That could explain why I all of a sudden have some hum.

Where TA is first...

Does this mean that I need to go BL > GR, WH > WH, GR > RED, RED > BL?

Will be easy enough if yes.

Yeah that looks about right.
MP is magnetic polarity, it's important to match it up (which doesn't seem to be an issue here) to make sure that when two singles (or a split hum/single or two split hums) are hum-cancelling. Both Dimarzio and Anderson seem to use the same polarity so it should plug right in no problem, but if you still get noise with your autosplits, then you'd want to reverse the A and B coils.

HTF - your initial idea was spot on. Got the colors correct, and all is well.

You wired it wrong. 

Red is hot, green is ground. Black and white connect together.
