Dimarzio Humbucker suggestion?
« on: November 19, 2017, 02:06:06 PM »
Hi

I'm looking for a Humbucker for my Schecter.
The guitar is mahogany body and neck, with rosewood fingerboard.

I'm looking for a bridge humbucker that match  the following :

-Very tight bass responce
-Clear and definition
-fast responce to picking attack

What is the right humbucker to me?

I'm not the guy to tell you, but if you want accurate replies you might wanna mention the output level you want because thats a huge detail.

What effects and amp and cabs and speakers are you using?

What pups have you already tried and what about those pups would you want more/less of?

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for a medium to high output pickup.
I have a Marshall JVM.

The Dimarzio that I have tried until now was the dactivator.
It's a good pickup but I'm looking for something with more definition and versatility.

Well, if high output is fine with you try a super distortion. I've used them since the 70's and I am not remotely close to being alone in thinking it may be the best hot humbucker ever made. It's tight and clear with perfect balance and that kind of midrange thats transparent and chewy and has all thats good about midrange without any of the bad. Doesn't SOUND middy, but the mids are there  and deliver what mids should....body and fullness. Great great pickup IMO. Today i'm trying to go with lower output in my HSS strats but so far nothing beats the SD. I may eventually go back to it again because it's just such a perfect pickup IMO and i can deal with the higer output if i can't find a pickup that sounds as good. Only the output has me looking for something different after decades of using them. I find it hard to believe theres a better humbucker out there if you're looking for high output. The single coil split sound is also much more than just useful, it's great. You truly get a fully usable single coil sound with the jangle and all. I used that abut as much as i did the full HB mode. Do a review search and i'm sure you'll see a lot of people saying the same things i did.

Right now i'm using a duncan thats sounding really good and it may be the first pickup that may be able to replkace the Super D for me, but i haven't used it long enough to be sure. It doesn't sound better, and the lows aren't quite as tight, but it has a lot of similarities and has the lower output i want. But if i was totally ok with the higher output i would still use the super D over the duncan.

I can get that there are more versatile options than the D Activator. Yet when it comes to definition, it is pretty darned precise.

Maybe the Illuminator. You might have to hunt one down, but there’s also the MegaDrive.

I have been digging the Titan set for the attributes you listed that you want. It is a great designed set.

Gravity Storm, Titan, Illuminator or maybe the Norton. I personally love the Gravity Storm and the Norton myself.
