Can anyone recommend me a pot?
« on: December 31, 2016, 01:34:30 PM »
Hi everyone. Just joined the Dimarzio family by getting a Gravity Storm bridge pickup. I'm looking to get it installed into this guitar: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/jackson-rr24-rhoads-electric-guitar-w-emg I think I need a 500k ohm pot? But I'm looking them up and it's really confusing to me. There are so many 500k pots out there. High speed, split, etc... can anyone recommend me a particular pot I could order from amazon/sweetwater, etc? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A regular 500k ohm pot will suffice. Some other options is personally preference. Some knobs require the use of a solid shaft, as opposed to split. So far with a three dozens or more guitars I've owned, I just use the split shaft ones. Never had any trouble fitting knobs ever. I guess in general the knbos that employs grub screws to hold onto the shaft would be best suited to a solid shaft, whereas a push down and insert knob would be best suited to a split shaft. As for the long shaft, that's to fit thicker bodied guitars, like a Les Paul guitar or whatnot
