Need pickup suggestion for Ibanez RG450DX
« on: January 19, 2016, 07:33:36 PM »
I have an Ibanez RG450DX, and I am replacing the pickups. It is a HSH guitar, I've decided on getting a D Activator pickup for the neck and bridge, but I am still looking for a middle pickup. THis guitar is mainly going to be used for shredding, so I want something that is responsive to tapping and has good harmonics. Would it be better to get a stacked humbucker or a single coil for the middle? Which pickup should I buy?

Id go with a Chopper or Satch Track.

Id go with a Chopper or Satch Track.

What do you find to be the differences between the two?

I think they are very close. The ST seems to have slightly less bass and a tad less compression. Its a little cleaner-sounding, but these are not night-and-day differences, more like nuances.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been considering giving the Chopper a try, but it sounds like I'd prefer the ST more, which I'm already checking out. So that's good news!
