The Pickup Place / PAF36th on my Carvin neckthru: Amazing!
« on: May 08, 2017, 06:04:44 AM »
I have a Carvin DC600 neckthru guitar with ebony fingerboard, alder body with flame top and strings thru body style bridge like ABR, so the guitar sounds good with his factory pickups but they are too high output and the compression was too much for my style.
So I've decided to go into a vintage output territory!! I've found a pair of PAF36th and I've put them.
Now the guitar sounds amazing It has more bite and attack with sweet  and musical mids, not too much bass and no compression but dynamic on every side of gain.
I'm very happy of these dimarzio!! Now I've understand why Paul Gilbert loves the vintage output pickups from dimarzio!! ;)

What are the differences between these two models?? they are both a PAF replica, but how can sounds in gain situation? I've see PAul Gilbert uses in more guitars the Air classic set but i'm afraid of the low ouput theu can be sounds thin or like a single coil??

The Pickup Place / Re: Dimarzio for a neckthru guitar?
« on: September 26, 2016, 09:55:37 AM »
Thanks Jazz!! What are the difference between PAf36th and Paf MAster?
My guitar doesn't have the bite of a strat becouse It is a neckthru but It has more mellow and natural attack of the note with warm sound....
I want to play rock and beyond , other people suggest me the Norton but I'm afraid to create a too boomy sound without attack and edge

The Pickup Place / Dimarzio for a neckthru guitar?

Hi I'm Matteo I own a beautiful Carvin DC600 a neckthru guitar with ebony fingerboard, alder body with maple top. The guitar have a sweet sound without too much bass and treble very balanced,  I'm thinking to change the pickups with a pair of dimarzio but I dont want a high output pickups, I'm searching something near vintage raw sound for the bridge and creamy with sustain in the neck.
What do you suggest?
I'm thinking a pair of paf36th but I'm not sure
