I have been....Illuminated!  The answer for this guitar was Illuminators.  Now, I just put them in tonight, so I might be in the honeymoon phase but DANG!!  Awesome pups, they do what I need the pups in a 24 fret "rock guitar" to do!

Big thanks to Darth Phineas at darthphineas.com for the recommendation!

The Pickup Place / Pups for CU24

Hey guys I've got limited Dmz experience so I really need to draw on your expertise.  My CU24 currently has had a good selection of pups over the year in it, but with the exception of the factory pups they have all been Duncans.

Currently it has a Pearly Gates bridge model in the next slot, and an Alternative 8 in the bridge slot.  They are closer than anything else has ever been, but I'm still not really happy. The name doesn't have a warm thick sound it's still a little glassier than I'd prefer.   I know that it's hard to achieve with a 24 for it guitar, but I'd like to get closer.   The bridge pick up is a little too congested sounding. I feel like the guitar has a lot of high mids and I need to round out the sound more, especially the bridge.

My Dimarzio experience consists of the proprietary Ernie Ball pick ups (25th Anniversary), the Steve Morse set (Dark Lord), X2N (Strat), Super D (LP Custom), and the PAF Pro and IBZUSA F3 (USA Custom RG)

I've never heard a Dmz in a PRS, so I'm kinda grasping at straws here.  I called in and they recommended the TZ/Air Norton but I think it's because I bragged on the EBMM pups so much.

I'm sure you guys will have questions about things I do or don't like before you make a recommendation so fire away!

Luke
