DP182 - Fast track 2
DP184 - Chopper

Outputwise a Chopper or Satch Track should fill the bill.

A more stratty sounding alternative would be the Cruiser but that one has low ouput.

Do you like the sound of the middle pickup? Or if not, what don't you like?
It's easier to recommend something if we know what's wrong with your current setup.

Thanks, one point is being the sc not noiseless. The other one is it has less output compared to the other two. Concerning the sound in itself, I have to confess that it's pretty good in itself.

I have the config in title, with a Fender factory single coil in the middle position. I mainly play alternative rock. Should I leave it like that, or think about another pup to complete the setup? I have rosewood fretboard. Thanks.

Not if you want the combination setting to be humcancelling. Bridge in parallel mode has two active coils humbucking. Add another coil and it's humming again. Tonally it may be worthwile for the bridge in parallel sound alone.

I actually was not bothered by hum. So this is what I did in the end; FT2 bridge with p/p for series parallel, Fender original single coil in the middle with no tone control on it, Chopper neck with p/p for series parallel. I have to admit for both Di Marzio PUs, the sound is lovely for both series and parallel options. Maybe the one I like the less is FT2 in series, but that is probably because my whole set of pots is 250k. Would it improve if I would change the bridge tone pot to a 500k one?

Even the FT-2 split plus the Fender single coil may hum together if the magnetic polarity of the coils are the same. Reversing the phase in itself will not get you there - you need to wire the FT-2 so that the other coil stays active in split mode.

If you have wired it as per the instructions (i.e. red to hot, green to ground, white and black to split) you need to swap red with black and green with white so that the wiring looks black to hot, white to ground and red and green to split.

Since the coils on the FT-2 are so close together the tonal change should be minimal.

I just checked and pos. 2 is indeed humming even when FT2 is split. The same when I have bridge split+ neck (again a standard fender SC). Does it mean I should reverse phase on the FT2?

If the middle single coil is a single coil, i.e. a pickup that has only one coil and no hum-cancelling construction, then the hum in the combined position is normal. However, if it's a hum-cancelling model, there should not be any hum, unless you split either of the pickups in the combined setting.

It is indeed a standard Fender single coil. I have a split toggle for the FT2 but it seems the hum is staying even if I split the pickup. Is it possible? (I will check again this statement ASAP)

I just noticed I get hum when the selector is on position 2, namely Fast track 2 (br) + middle single coil. Is it a normal thing or there's possibly something wrong in the connections? Thanks

If it sounds good, it is good.

Not a cop out, but sound is quite relative to the listener. If it gives you the tone you want, then you are good. Won't know until you hook it up....it's just a few minutes to find out.

I just bought one and it should be on its way. But I'll have to wait end of the month to install it since I am on holiday

Sometimes it comes down to piecing together parts of different schematics.

First of all thanks for all the replies. By joining a couple of diags it seems I would need another push/pull pot OR a DPDT switch. What's your opinion about this two PUs together on the same guitar? Will it be a good combo?

Yes I had a look at the site but couldn't find a matching scheme, yet. 
Maybe I just have to do without the neck activation, I guess..

I would like to have FT2 + Chopper with dual sound (series + parallel) using the two p/p pots I already have.The question is: if I also want to  activate bridge + neck or 3 PUs together, do I need another DPDT switch?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum so I hope I can learn a lot of things from you. I have a '91 American Strat; at the bridge position, I have a Fast Track II, neck and middle are the factory single coils. I also have two push/pull 250k pots, one for the volume (now it splits the FTII) and one for the neck tone (now it activates neck pickup). Bridge/middle tone is Fender TBX system. The plan is to add a Chopper in the neck position. My plan is to remove the splitting on the Fast Track since I don't like the sound when split, and rather use the pp for series/parallel sound. I'd love to do the same eventually for the upcoming Chopper, but I'd also like to keep the neck activation together with the bridge PU. Would it be possible with what I have at the moment? How should it be wired. If you have suggestions on pickup choice I'd gladly hear those too. I mainly play grunge, punk, hard rock and some more metalish stuff.
