Wanted double-blade middle.
Output (according to specs) is a little higher than the True Velvet Middle that I took out. That TV Middle is what several Ibanez H/S/H guitars use, including Nita Strauss' sig model. Her Pandemonium pickups aren't far off (output-wise) from the Evo 2 bridge and Evolution Neck I'm using.

I got it put together over the weekend, but haven't had time to test it out.

I have an Ibanez Artist AR2000, which has a thinner mahogany body with a flame maple top. Thinner than a LP, but thicker than an Ibanez S-series.
I've got an F-spaced Norton lying around, and was thinking about putting that in the AR2000 bridge, and maybe a regular-spaced Air Norton for the neck.

As stupid as this probably sounds, do those two pair well together in that bridge/neck config?

I have an Evolution Neck and Evo 2 Bridge incoming for my RG655. Want a dual-blade single-coil-size for the middle.
Thinking about the Cruiser Bridge. Any opinions on pairing this one with a high output neck/bridge?

Wound up using a 3/32" x 2" cotter pin that straightened out and cut to fit magnet width. I put the magnet against the screws and used the straight cotter pin piece as a shim on the slug side; fit perfectly. It's magnetic, so we'll see how it goes.

About a year or so ago, I swapped out the A5s in one of my PAF 36th sets for A4s. They were weak, which isn't surprising, but I wanted to give those a run.
Now I've got the pickups apart again, and wanted to de-air them, but leave the A4 magnets in.

The neck pickup went fine, the spacer bar fit, all is well. I ordered some 53mm spacer bars, and they don't fit a DiMarzio F-spaced pickup due to its 51.5mm spread (which I found out later).

So, where can I find spacer/keeper bars to fit? Find broken DiMarzios and scavenge the parts?

Interestingly I came to the same conclusion on the Mojotone Quiet Coil P90. I have a neck version. While it is quiet, to me it lacks high mids and openness. I have a Kinman Sweet Clean P90 in a different guitar (I guess this is now the High Def model but I am not sure) which is better in that regard but costs a lot more. Even though the pickups are not in the same guitar, the guitar with the Mojotone is the brighter guitar, and yet with the pickup it sounds duller.

Got an idea to add a 220K or 270K resistor to ground on the 500K tone pots, extending the range to around 750K. Will do that this weekend if I have the time.
Figured that would be cheaper/quicker than opting for a whole new set.

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RELEASE INFO ON THE FANTOM 90S???
Getting to the point the Mojotone Quiet Coil P90s are a little darker/not as 'open'/raw as I'd like; I have them in my Epi ES-339. (any other solidbody and I'd likely use regular soapbars and the Ilitch system).

Thinking about Kinmans, but holding off until I know more about these new DiMs.

The Pickup Place / Breed Neck/Bridge in Ibanez S-type

Ibanez S-types are notoriously thin-bodied guitars. I've got a JS-1000 (a little thicker than the S models) and  I'm eyeing a an SV flametop.
I'm wondering if the Breeds 'fatness' will compliment the S body type.

Any thoughts?

SD has a 'custom' page/link where you can go in and spec something to your heart's content, although their stock offerings cover a lot of ground.

They have 32 variants of Strat pickups, but yes, only 7 of those are standard single-coils. But even the standard sc's have varying degrees of output, up to the point of the Dark Matter and SDS, when the they are high-output and the treble starts rolling off. There is more variety in their noiseless Strat pu line.

Personally, I wish DiMarzio would do some Area Jazzmaster sets. That (noiseless JM pu's) is still a market share with few players.

had to dig a little to find things I wanted to say that would be fair to everyone.  which is kinda sorta what I do when something doesn't cut the mustard.  I'm not here to slam the product, but my personal impression is that it does not live up to the potential of a replica of a PAF from 1959.  but... lots of players will still like it and that's what matters to DiMarzio.

my thought is that the most unique thing about this set is the bobbin color, followed the lack of options.  the set as a whole falls into the beefier category that became a 'thing' when Duncan released the 59 Model.  except that Duncan acknowledges they made them hotter and beefier on purpose. 

DiMarzio makes a lot of great pickups and I enjoy exploring the catalog.  I think there's a reason why people want to bring back the VPAF.  otherwise, the more modern-sounding tones just seem to be more in the DiMarzio wheelhouse.

I'd be interested in learning more about when the Blucher era started to wind down.

I like the Mojo 59 Clone models.  the difference between the regular bridge and the hot bridge are a little subtle, going more for a similar voice.  if they are your first choice, go with them.  if there's an issue, they will work with you on it.  or call up, ask for David Shepherd and discuss your goals before you order.

if I'm not looking to totally break the bank, the PAF replicas I'd start with would be the Seth Lover set.  then the Mojotone 59 Clones.  if I had some scratch to throw around, there are others I can discuss.

Thanks for the reply - makes more sense now, and I might just skip these as well. I dig the 36th PAFs a lot, though. A great all-around humbucker - on the higher side of 'low output'.

Mojotone is a little less than 2hrs from my house. I've emailed Dave Shepherd on other things; nice guy, responsive. I picked up a Classic Hot Humbucker for my haven't gotten around to installing, but the 59 Clones might be going in my Ibanez AS120.

A good read/writer, albeit more like a blog/magazine article; i.e. over half of it has nothing to do with the sound of the pickups.
I hope he can go into more detail/less formal here; it sounds like the neck is a bit boomier than the bridge.

EDIT: I'd like a comparison to Mojotones '59 Clones at this point, as those were my first choice before these DiM's were released.

Given the number of reviews on his site, I don't doubt he probably already has a set of the PAF 59s.
It's just been a bit of a tease - we all know we gearheads aren't patient when it comes to waiting for reviews on new stuff.

EDIT: Nevermind - I'm seeing $89-$92 on evilbay. Not bad at all, but will wait for some reviews before going with these over Mojotones.
