The Pickup Place / Re: De-airing pickups (Air Classic)

Thanks for your thoughts.  Yeah I've been thinking it might not even be a positive change.  To the very least I need to give it some time in stock form before changing anything.

The Pickup Place / De-airing pickups (Air Classic)
« on: January 06, 2016, 07:02:05 AM »
Is there a simple way to describe the difference between aired pickup and de-aired pickup, other than increasing output?

I will be doing some searches and reading up on everything about de-airing (I'm new to the idea) but just wanted to post this incase anyone had any thoughts.

I have a 22 fret guitar where I have Norton in the bridge and Air Classic neck in the neck.. but I now want to put them into my 24 fret Ibanez RG.

I wondered if the Air Classic neck would be too bright or lack output in a 24 fret guitar?  Do you think de-airing it could be the answer?  I'm looking a hybrid of classic rock/blues neck tones but still being able to pull off the modern stuff like Satriani leads.

A de-aired Air Classic would still be a lowish output humbucker?  (I need to read more about how much the output increases)

Cheers
