You can ditch the tone pot if you have and wire the middle pickup to a vol pot before it goes to the switch making sure that the middle position has all 3 together. That way if you dont want to use the middle pickup you just turn down the volume completely. I did that with an epi black beauty since the original switch is meant for bridge, middle, neck+ middle ( or bridge and middle, cant remember rn). Thing is i couldn't get rid of the middle pickup in position 1 or 3 so i just activated it with a vol pot. Also you can do the mini toggle but depending on your switch the middle position might be nothing (which you can also use as a killwitch if that fancy your interest.
