So after not so careful consideration, I think I'm going to restore her back to her former glory. I see a load of cheap wiring harnesses around. Has anybody used them? Are they cheap for a reason? I suppose I could buy the harness and then replace the pots with CTS or whatever. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron but I'm wondering if the actual wires are cheap junk as well or is pickup wire just pickup wire no matter where it comes from?

I’d just replace it all, non-harness if it were mine. You’re probably looking at about $30 in parts and a little bit of your time.
Great score btw!

Excuse my ignorance. What do you mean non-harness? Buy the pots and wire separately etc and DIY it?

Yup

That's not a bad idea actually.

I’ve done it to a few guitars now....
It’s pretty easy and since you can already solder....why not, right?

Yeah think you may be right. Good point.

I agree. Just buy the pots and wire it. Easy and cheap.
